If you have read the book, you’ll know who I am talking about, if you haven’t: I am ofcourse talking about Jenny Han’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and its sequel, P.S: I Still Love You.
Synopsis of the books:
The story is of 16 year old Lara Jean who has written letters to the boys she has loved in her life without openly admitting it to them. The catch is that she never sends them. One day they all get sent, and now she has to face the loves of her past. One thing leads to another and she, Lara Jean is in a heated pretend relationship with the most handsome boy in her class, also a recipient of her letters. The books narrate the journey of how she finds her true love. After much struggle, heart ache, pain and tears, she finally has peace. She finds herself, her niche in her world.
What I think (maybe I should warn you of small spoilers.. oooops!):
ASDFGHJKL!!
Exactly that!
That’s my answer!
To be honest, the book is rather disorientating! You could almost feel her being pulled left and right, her emotions taking a 180 degree dip, almost like a roller coaster ride of emotions throughout the book. By the end of the two books, trust me you’ll be rooting for your own OTPs XD
I must say I didnt get all the feels in the book, its rather slow setting in on me. I appreciate the fact that her family are really close knit, the father daughter relationships are what now people call #FamilyGoals, while the sisterly bond is so sweet! I was amazed at how forward and grown up Kitty, Lara Jean’s little sister is.
There were numerous times when I was screaming for Lara to PLEASE not screw things up when evidently Peter is in love with her!
Lara thinks it over in on her head about Genevive to the point of being paranoid made me paranoid!
The moment she gets cosy with both Josh and Ambrose its a whole different story. Not that I dont like either of them, I maybe ship them too (OMG THREE SHIPS!!) but when someone’s doing as much for you and for your family as Peter was to her family, I just wanted to shake her and give her a piece of my mind!
The big question? Who I’d personally chose? ha!
Kitty Covey is in a class of her own, Im going to give her the prize of most engaging role in the book! Drum roll for younger siblings! XD
So what did you guys think about the book! A YAY , NAY or MEH?
Please comment!
Im going to leave you with a few FEEELSS quotes form the books ENJOY!!! ITS GUSHY MUSHY ROMANTIC YAAR with a dash of some good sense!! XD you are warned … 😉
“I know now that I don’t want to love or be loved in half measures. I want it all, and to have it all, you have to risk it all.”
“People come in and out of your life. For a time they are your world; they are everything. And then one day they’re not. There’s no telling how long you will have them near.”
Her most important lesson
“It’s only then that I realize: Peter wasn’t the one who needed to get over Genevieve. It was me. All this time with Peter, I’ve been
comparing myself to her, all the ways I don’t measure up. All the ways our relationship pales next to theirs. I’m the one who couldn’t let her go. I’m the one who didn’t give us a chance.”
“I’m saying you drive me more crazy than any girl I’ve ever met.”
“What if we do? If we’re so guarded, it’s not going to be anything. Let’s do it fucking for real, Lara Jean. Let’s go all in. No more contract. No more safety net. You can break my heart. Do whatever you want with it.”
“I think you half-fall in love with every person you meet. It’s part of your charm. You’re in love with love.”
This may be true. Perhaps I am in love with love! That doesn’t seem like such a bad way to be.
“I see you girls and I think, God, any man who could raise those girls is something special. I’ve never seen a man so devoted to his family. You three are the pearls in his crown, you know? And that’s how it should be. A girl’s relationship with her father is the most important male relationship of her life.”
“For me.”
“Us,” Peter corrects. “I did it for us.” He links our fingers together. “It’s you and me, kid.”
I tighten my fingers around his. If we just hold on tight enough, it will all be okay.
“You could do with a little less baking and a little more living life.”
My personal favourite :
“Airports used to be so very much more glamorous. People got dressed up to travel. Young people on airplanes these days, they wear those horrible sheepskin boots and pajama pants and it’s an eyesore. I wouldn’t go out for the mail dressed like that.”
Now where was I? I think I’m going to get Stormy to set up a lunch with that Ambrose guy! Where does he live btw? XD
Toodles
XOX
I loved the two books but I hate that first, Jenny Han showed us the good side of Peter and made us fall in love with him and in the second book she introduced a new character – John Ambrose – and told us that he was better for Lara Jean and Peter was a jerk but in the end, Lara Jean stayed with Peter. (What??!!)
I love Peter more anyway. (I don’t hate John. I love him too. :D)
